Oren Meiri

I am Deputy CEO, CTO and Head of Information Systems at SrvIT, and part of the team since 2013 - over 13 years. My job is to decide how we build, secure and document our clients' IT systems, and to make sure every client gets the same standard of service.

My approach favours building an orderly, managed and documented system - one that will inevitably have fewer faults than a system built without planning.

I lead the technical team and the tools we use to manage systems in the field and remotely, and I choose the technologies we work with for clients - ones that have already proven themselves, not whatever is newest.

My background

I started out in IT in the field - a systems and support person at large organizations, including the Ad 120 chain and the Meitav and Dash investment houses. There I managed servers, networks, backups and telephony for environments of hundreds of users and thousands of computers - work that demands order, availability and strong information security.

That background means I know the client's side first-hand: what it means for a system to simply have to work, and what a fault looks like to the person on the receiving end. I completed my training in infrastructure, networks and information security at Sela College, and I am MCSE certified.

What a CTO does at a managed-IT company

My job is to set the way we manage our clients' IT. I take what the client needs - systems that work, data that is secure, meeting legal requirements - and turn it into the infrastructure and procedures the team works by.

In practice I decide which systems, vendors and tools we work with, how backup is set up, and how we keep data secure. When that is decided once and properly, every client gets the same standard of service, regardless of who handles them on a given day.

How we choose technology

I choose technology that has already proven itself - stable, secure and supported over time - not something new just because it is new. For our clients it matters more that a system works every day than that it is the most advanced.

Information security is part of everything we build. We follow orderly procedures, document and review every change, and make sure every system is secure from the design stage. That is how we can manage businesses' systems - including in sensitive fields such as healthcare - without compromising on data security.
